2015 Northwest Michigan Orchard and Vineyard Show

Some of the topics to be covered include: Maximum Residue Limits (MRL); Spotted wing drosophila; updates from the MSUE Firewise Team; woodlot management for farm diversification, and the Michigan Tree Fruit Commission. This year’s guest speaker, Brent Black, from Utah State University Extension, will speak on irrigation and fertility as it relates to cold hardiness in tart cherries.

Registration fee: $30/person for both days, no pre-registration is required; Fruit Industry luncheon, Jan. 13, $15; CMI luncheon, Jan. 14: Free to cherry growers; pre-registration with CMI.

Registratrion starts at 8 a.m. with educational sessions starting at 9 a.m. and ending at 5 p.m. both days.


Molly C. Haviland will be presenting during a morning and afternoon session speaking on the importance of the Soil Food Web in Orchard and Vineyard systems as well as how to make/use Compost and Compost tea to keep the beneficial soil organisms in perennial agriculture systems.
